FAQ

Q: What hookups are available for my camper?
 
A: Your campsite includes direct access to electricity, water, and sewer hookup. There is a picnic table and fire ring on your site. Tenting sites are also available.
 
 
Q: Can I bring my boat?
 
A: Yes! You can bring your boat. We have a boat launch and docks available for your convenience, and we are a 5 mile boat ride from Lake of the Woods. 
 
Q: What about firewood?
 
A: It’s our responsibility to protect the ecosystem at Camp of the Woods. Bringing personal firewood into the campground will not be allowed. Firewood will be available for purchase for $5/bundle. 
 
Q: What is there to do at Camp of the Woods? 
 
A: There are a lot of activities to enjoy at Camp of the Woods. One of the camp favourites is watching fish jump on the Rainy River. Bird watching is also a popular favourite. Sturgeon and walleye can be seen and heard jumping anytime of day or night.  There are also 4 nature trails on the campground for you to enjoy a walk on anytime. Explore the creek area, home of tadpoles, turtles, frogs, ducks, and many bird species. If you’re the relaxing kind, there is plenty of mature oak and basswood trees for you to pull your lawn chair under to relax. We have 4 horseshoe pits for some friendly competition between you, your friends, and your family. There is a beach to relax, read, and rest on. 
There is also a 25’ x 25’ picnic shelter for gatherings.  Bikes, a kayak, and a canoe are available to rent for a small fee $5/hour, $10/hour, and $15/hour respectively). Canoe and kayak rentals include life jackets. 
 
 
Q: How many people can camp on my site?  
 
A: One camper, recreational vehicle, or motorhome can be set up on one campsite. Each unit may have a maximum of 4 people in it. 
 
A tent may be set up on your campsite for an additional $20. 
 
Q: Are tenting sites available?
 
A: Tenting sites are available for rent for $20 without electricity, and $25 with electricity. 
 
Q: What about pets?
 
A: Pets are permitted at Camp of the Woods. Pets must be leashed at all times, and noise kept to a minimum. 
 
Q Where can I rent a kayak? How much is it to rent a kayak?
A: You can rent a kayak at Camp of the Woods. Stop in at the convenience store and we will provide you with life jacket. The cost to rent a kayak is $15/hour.  
Q: Do you have public washrooms and showers?
A: Yes, our washrooms and showers are open 24 hours for your convenience
 
Q: Is alcohol permitted on the campground
A: Yes.
 
Q: Do you accept Canadian and US Currency? 
Yes, we accept both Canadian and US Dollars. 
 
Q: How big is Camp of the Woods?
A: 24 acres. Camp of the Woods is located on the Rainy River, 6 miles from the Canada/US border. It is accessible by road or water.  The campground is situated on 24 acres of generously treed land, with the dominant tree being oak. The land is marked by a stream on the east, the Rainy River on the south, a ravine on the west, and River Road on the north.
 
Q: How many vehicles are included with my campsite?
A: One vehicle is included with your campsite. Additional vehicle passes are available for yourself and visitors for $5/day. 
Q: Where can I get a map of Camp of the Woods and surrounding area?
A: Our map is currently being developed. If you have any questions about nature trail locations, recommended bicycle routes, or anything else, visit our registration office and convenience store any day of the week between 8am and 6pm. 
 
Q: Do you sell food?
A: Ice cream, snacks, pop and ice are available in the convenience store. There is also a vending machine in the picnic shelter.
Q: Where can I rent a canoe? How much is it to rent a canoe?
A: You can rent a canoe at Camp of the Woods. Stop in at the convenience store and we will provide your canoe and life jacket. The cost to rent a canoe is $20/hour. 
 
Q: Are you open year-round?
A: We are open from May 1 - September 30. 
 
Q: Where can I rent bikes?
A: You can rent bikes at Camp of the Woods. Stop in at the convenience store. The cost to rent a bike is $5/hour.
